September Evening at Contemporary Arts Center: an Architectural Tour

In 2003, the Lois & Richard Rosenthal Center for Contemporary Art opened in Cincinnati. The first American art museum designed by a woman – the late visionary architect Zaha Hadid – had architecture critic Herbert Muschamp calling it "the most important American building to be completed since the end of the Cold War."

An impressive structure, it is emblematic of Hadid’s early style: cutting-edge deconstructionist architecture filled with angles and open and compressed spaces. Hadid connected the building to the urban core via its “Urban Carpet,” from which ramp-like stairs at the back of the building zigzag upward into its soaring upper five stories.

Join us for this architecturally focused tour led by CAC trustee and docent Bruce Lazarus. While the museum will be between art exhibitions, we’ll get a behind the scenes in-depth look at this signature building -- one Hadid herself called “a catalogue of spaces.” Space is limited. Open to current cf3 members.
