cf3 Members Day at the Lake!
The Solway House on Lake Lorelei
Cincinnati modern houses show up in the most unusual places!
Join us for an afternoon tour and pot luck lunch on July 22.
This expanded and renovated 1970 cottage on Lake Lorelei was the brainchild of original owner Carl Solway and architect Ray Roush. Carl and his wife Lizi had their friend Ray come out of retirement to enlarge/enhance the modest structure to both maximize the lake views & accommodate their large art collection in the 1980s and 90’s. The resulting structure in the International/New York 5 style of architecture is quite a departure from Roush’s previous body of work with partner Carl Strauss. The house is iconic on the lake; standing out from the surrounding houses, yet perfectly at home in its wooded setting.
Current owners and cf3 founders Susan & Arlen Rissover purchased the house in 2020 and have been putting their spin on it. They’ve leaned heavily into modern design from the 1970’s & 1980’s — while carefully respecting the original design and intent.
A mere 45 minute drive east of Cincinnati, it feels like worlds away.
